Mutual of America Financial Group Celebrates Nonprofits at Its 29th Annual Community Partnership Award Event

NEW YORK, May 15, 2025—Mutual of America Financial Group celebrated the achievements of six nonprofit programs from across the country who received the Mutual of America Foundation 2024 Community Partnership Award during a special event on May 14 at its New York City headquarters.
“The 2024 award-winning programs tackle complex issues and offer impactful solutions that improve the lives of individuals and strengthen communities,” said Stephen J. Rich, Chairman, CEO and President of Mutual of America Financial Group. “We are proud to recognize these organizations and the partnerships they’ve created for making such a positive difference in the lives of those they serve.”
National Award-Winning Program
Hudson Link for Higher Education in Prison, based in Ossining, NY, received the Thomas J. Moran Award, which is given to the national award-winning program. Mutual of America produced a documentary about the program and premiered it at the event. Past winners have used their video to expand public awareness of their work and help attract additional partners and sponsors.
“Winning the Mutual of America 2024 Community Partnership Award means the world to us,” said Sean Pica, President of Hudson Link for Higher Education in Prison. “When we started Hudson Link 27 years ago, we understood that partnerships were going to be the driving force for success in our service of incarcerated and formerly incarcerated people. With Mutual of America’s generous support behind our documentary, we can continue to show the world the impact that we are having on so many lives.”
Frances R. Hesselbein Award / Social Impact Award
The recipient of the Frances R. Hesselbein Award, which is given to a partnership that is addressing social challenges and is also being replicated in more than one community, was Community Health, a program of iFoster, Inc., based in Truckee, CA.
The following four organizations received Social Impact Awards for their programs: Black Home Initiative (Civic Commons, Seattle, WA); Little Readers (HeartBound Ministries, Nashville, TN); St. Jude Centers – Permanent Supportive Housing for the Homeless (Catholic Charities of Dallas, Inc., Dallas, TX); and The Tennessee Center for Decision-Making Support (The Arc Tennessee, Nashville, TN).
“The 2024 Community Partnership Award winners exemplify the spirit of partnership and innovation that drives meaningful change in communities across the country,” said Sara Wiencken, Chair of the Mutual of America Foundation. “Their work is transformative for the individuals and families they serve and a model for how sectors can come together to create beneficial change.”
