At Mutual of America Financial Group, actively supporting and engaging with the communities we serve is a vital part of our mission. This includes championing the nonprofit sector and the meaningful impact its mission-driven organizations are making across the U.S. They embody the best of our nation, strengthening our communities by providing essential services that feed, heal, house, educate, inspire and nurture millions of individuals and families in need.

Our Company was founded in 1945 as a result of a unique partnership of community-minded business leaders who were driven by a shared purpose: to provide workers in nonprofit sector jobs a means to build a measure of financial security in retirement. At that time, Social Security did not cover certain occupational sectors, including nonprofit organizations.

Much has changed since then, of course. But at Mutual of America, we are still inspired by the vision that every worker deserves a financially secure and dignified retirement.

For eight decades, we have provided retirement plan solutions and investments designed to help create better financial outcomes for our customers. Our mission-driven approach and strong sense of social responsibility are clearly reflected in our customer-first attitude and the ways in which our Company and our employees proudly give back to the diverse communities we serve.

It’s in this spirit that we created the Mutual of America Foundation Community Partnership Award in 1996. Over the past three decades, the Community Partnership Award has annually honored nonprofit organizations that are working in partnership with the public and private sectors to create communities where everyone is supported, empowered and thriving. Today, it is recognized as one of the most prestigious and coveted national awards in the country.

This year’s three winning programs were selected from among hundreds of nonprofit organizations that submitted an application to the Community Partnership Award competition. As you’ll see on the pages that follow, these programs and the dedicated individuals leading them are achieving powerful and positive change in communities across America, every single day.
