Community Building: Extending Our Mission
A sense of social responsibility has distinguished Mutual of America
since our founding as a provider of retirement plan services for employees
in not-for-profit organizations. After more than 60 years of serving this caring
community, the dedication and sense of purpose of our clients and their
employees have had a profound impact on us. In 2006, virtually all of our
employees participated in charitable activities, including initiatives
of the American Cancer Society, United Way, Easter Seals, Multiple
Sclerosis Society, Toys For Tots and American Diabetes Association.
Community Partnership Award
The Community Partnership Award is another way
our Company is working to help build a strong, vibrant society for all Americans.
Established in 1996, the award recognizes and encourages partnerships among public,
private and social sector organizations devoted to the public good. These
partnerships address issues that concern us all - from child abuse to teen
unemployment to homelessness among the mentally ill. To date, the Community
Partnership Award has recognized 100 partnerships from across America that work to
strengthen and unite communities by reaching out to those in need while offering
models of dynamic collaboration for others to replicate.
Corporate Sponsorships
Mutual of America provides funding for the acclaimed PBS-distributed newsmagazine program Religion & Ethics NewsWeekly that offers high school and college educators a video workshop for teaching about world religions. We have also continued to develop our partnership with Girl Scouts Have MoneySmarts, a program that integrates financial literacy into Girl Scouts program activities to help girls achieve financial independence.
Making a Difference
Mutual of America is dedicated to making a difference in the world, not only by
helping individuals meet their long-term financial objectives, but also by having a
direct, positive impact on the future of our society. Years of working with
not-for-profit organizations have convinced us that our financial strength carries
with it an obligation to give back to the communities we serve. As a Company and as
individuals, we will continue to explore ways in which we can help better our world.
